Behemoth – A Journal on Civilisation publishes current research articles dealing with the dissolution and/or failure of state power and the resulting consequences. The journal considers itself a platform for discussing risk and order in societies in which state institutions are in the process of losing or have already lost their integrative power. Its aim is to spotlight approaches and concepts that analyse these new, contingent and sometimes precarious regimes of (dis)order.
Behemoth has been released semi-annually since 2014 in cooperation with the Center for Security and Society at the University of Freiburg. The editorial circle includes: Prof. Natascha Adamowsky (Media Studies), Prof. Ulrich Bröckling (Cultural Sociology), Prof. Andreas Langenohl (Sociology), Prof. Ralf Poscher (Law), Prof. Frieder Vogelmann (Critical Social Theory) and Prof. Ute Tellmann (General Sociology / Sociological Theory).
Behemoth regularly announces Calls for Papers on specific topics. All submitted manuscripts undergo a peer review process. To submit contributions, please contact: Amelie Bihl and Mila Obert, Sociological Institut, University of Freiburg. E-Mail: email@example.com
