How is the organization of economic processes changing in the digital age? How can we explain different dynamics of digital transformations, and what new disparities are emerging? How do digital media and tools change the relationship between politics and space, and what role does geopolitics play in the development of technologies and infrastructures? What are the implications of digital technology for social relationships and mobility? How are societal relationships with nature evolving? And what research methods offer innovative perspectives on the relationship between society, space, and digital technology?
grid focuses on the mutual transformations of society, technology, and space in the age of digital media, infrastructures, data, and algorithms. We do not understand the digital as a distinct, separate domain. Rather, digital technologies are developed and applied within social contexts. The analysis of spatial configurations, processes, and events vividly demonstrates how digital technologies interact with social, economic, and ecological processes and the new societal challenges and political issues that arise. However, grid is not a journal. Our goal is to provide insights into research, placing importance on academic standards while maintaining a clear and accessible style. Additionally, we offer a platform for contributions that take advantage of the possibilities of digital media or that experiment with alternative and creative formats.
